But the Economic and International Affairs Panel heard that there were complexities around a second application for South Hill in St Helier which meant a longer timescale was envisaged.
Assistant Economic Development Minister Hugh Raymond, who has responsibility for sport, was asked about the matter by his predecessor, Senator Steve Pallett.
‘It has been frustrating and a complete eye-opener,’ Deputy Raymond said. ‘There’s been so much support and we just want to get on with it, but the Planning Department has been very busy.’
Senator Pallett said the April target date for Les Quennevais was a month later than the previous estimate and expressed concern about the risk that the skate park would not be completed ahead of the general election taking place in June 2022.
But Deputy Raymond said he could see no reason why the Les Quennevais project shouldn’t be completed on time, and said there were also discussions with other parishes about setting up skateboarding facilities in other parishes.
