What is HIIT?
HIIT means high-intensity interval training. HIIT includes sessions wherein one is required to take breaks after short intervals of high intense exercises. The best example of an HIIT is Tabata workout. An HIIT workout increases the body's pace at a rapid speed and then decreases it suddenly with regular breaks in the middle. Not only does it increase your endurance and stability, HIIT also corrects your form. While this may sound simple in reading, but the actual application is a tad more difficult and can seriously test your strength.
How does HIIT help in fat loss?
HIIT helps in fat loss as once the body starts doing a high-intensity workout, it increases the body's need for oxygen as HIIT creates a shortage due to the high level of activity. Consequently, when your body takes breaks in the middle, it asks for oxygen in the process (during recovery time). It is during this change in levels of oxygen that your body actually burns fat and calories, leading to permanent weight loss.
Other than this, HIIT also increases your resting metabolism. This means that once you've completed your HIIT, you end up burning calories through the day, even when you are sitting or lying down. Once your metabolism increases, it automatically leads to fat and weight loss.
