Rams draft results: Les Snead gets another explosive athlete at RB - Turf Show Times

The LA Rams have added a player to the running backs room: Maryland’s Jake Funk. I don’t have the number off of the top of my head, but this is roughly the 26th running back that Les Snead has drafted in the last couple of years.
Jake Funk is a 5’10, 206 lbs back who ran a 4.49 40-yard dash with a 38” vertical, 10’2 broad, 6.71 three-cone time, and 4.12 in the shuttle. This is yet another “athlete” that Snead has added to the team during this draft.
Funk’s shuttle time was tied for the third-fastest among the 2021 running backs, his three-cone was just flat out first, his vertical was fourth, and everything else was well above average. But Funk was not productive in college and he played just 10 games over the last three seasons. As a fifth-year senior in 2020, Funk did rush for 516 yards and three touchdowns with 10 catches for 68 yards in only five games. He averaged 7.2 yards per carry during his college career.
The Rams' pick of running back Jake Funk at No. 233 feels like a total special teams move to me considering his noted prowess there, and his promising athletic profile aligns with the developmental... https://t.co/q7enzP4m2K

It’s an interesting late pick with clear upside that few seventh rounders have, but maybe not having that great of a chance to reach it. But there will be a clear competition for the third and fourth spots on the roster.
In the article “Jake Funk is a guy you want to root for,” Cincy Jungle points out that ACL tears ended his 2018 and 2019 season, but he was on pace to have a huge season in 2020 if not for the pandemic reducing the number of games.
