Gunman accidentally shoots woman, 75, on LES: NYPD - 1010WINS
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A gunman accidentally shot and injured a 75-year-old woman as he was trying to shoot a BMW driver who almost crashed into him on the Lower East Side on Tuesday, the NYPD said.
The man was trying to cross Clinton Street, near Delancey Street, around 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday when a driver in a black BMW turned right onto Clinton Street and almost hit him, police said.
The incident led to a dispute between the man and the driver, the NYPD said. At some point during the argument, the man whipped out a gun and fired at the driver several times, police said.
Instead of shooting the driver, however, the man accidentally shot a 75-year-old pedestrian in the buttocks, the NYPD said.
The 75-year-old woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said.
Police are now searching for the gunman, who was last seen wearing a mask, a dark jacket, dark pants, a grey knit cap, a dark sweatshirt and a white shirt with an image of Tupac Shakur on the front.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
