Wine bar and French bistro Les Zygomates has permanently closed - Boston.com
Boston is down a wine bar with the announcement that Les Zygomates has shuttered.
The Leather District bar and bistro published a short, undated message on its website stating that the business has permanently closed. It did not list a cause for the closure.
“Thank you for your loyal patronage over the years,” the message read.
Les Zygomates did not respond to Boston.com’s request for comment.
Located at 129 South St., the Parisian-inspired bistro regularly hosted live music along with an expansive selection of wine. It originally opened in 1994, and received new ownership in 2014 when Anthony Botta and Mark Tosi purchased the restaurant from chef/owner Ian Just.
“There is occasional brusqueness or lack of polish at Les Zygomates, but it doesn’t feel out of line with the bistro experience, social and casual,” Devra First, The Boston Globe‘s restaurant critic, wrote in an overall positive review of the restaurant in 2014. “Eat something. Share a bottle. Hear some music. But come to enjoy each other’s company.”
